One of my college classmate’s historian Paul Silverstone recently wrote me his analysis of the current political situation with Trump which I thought so profoundly excellent that I use it as the basis for this article.
When my editor says this should be published I know it’s worth doing: “Really good! Trump is also responsible for all the deaths in Texas resulting from the floods after all the cuts to the National Weather Service.”
We are truly living in a time of imperial authoritarianism:
A wanted war criminal, Netanyahu
Who has murdered 20,000 children in Gaza
Presents a letter to the man who gave him the weapons for genocide- Trump
Nominating Trump for the Nobel peace prize.

Paul shared “my latest ruminations”
Trump or Big Brother (see 1984) is a master at using words with their opposite meaning. Thus, with MAGA where G means great, it actually means weak. Many of his actions and pronouncements are doing the opposite of making our country greater.
By increasing the deficit and his chaotic tariff ideas, he is endangering the American dollar, one of the keystones of our greatness.
Our higher education system and our researches into health care and climate are among our higher achievements and the envy of the world; these Trump is trying to destroy or eliminate. Heretofore they attracted the brightest minds who are now looking elsewhere.
Our USAID help in the world is our soft power at a minuscule cost, a valuable asset, which again Trump is trying to eliminate.
His racist and misogynistic ideas are hurting our military by denying some of the best the opportunity to serve. Withdrawing support for our allies and cozying up to dictators again diminishes our power in the world.
We all know that in unity there is strength. His foreign policy is focused on Europe and the Middle East, instead of where it should be, the Far East and China. And all this is being done by choice, by our government.
Our adversaries are admiringly delighted as they see us diminished by our own decisions. Some of them have always said that America will fall from within rather than from the outside. We must not let this happen!

Of course, these wise words should have long ago led to this evil person’s impeachment indictment and ousting but that is not likely. We can hope that the sum of 180 days until the midterms we’ll simply further expose the ills that Paul has so clearly elucidated.
