The more one learns about human behavior, the more convinced one becomes of its continuing failure to take action.
Many Americans are now astonished that a person as evil as Donald Trump could surface, but history is full of such people, only they arrived at a time when planet earth would accommodate human mistakes more readily.
After having written, countless articles on the political situation, which arrived with Donald Trump, I carefully listed dozens of reasons why any recovery to our present level of life would be unlikely.
Einstein predicted that if World War III occurred those that survived would be reduced to living in the new Stone Age.
Over the years there have been many practical and achievable suggestions for making humans better or behaving in ways that are more satisfying such as transcendental meditation.
However, the difference in circumstances between rich and poor, between greed and poverty, between powerful and powerless, the prospect of sustaining a population now over four times higher than my birth in 1931 of 8 billion, the prospect of war, famine, poverty, and disease seem certain to create at least a serious semblance of the extinction of sustainable life.

Many books predicting such an outcome are already written.
I have offered in earlier op ed pieces many examples of what can happen in the world ruled under evil people like Trump, Putin, and Xi Jinping!
These rulers are uninterested in solving our environmental degradation, making our population sustainable and extending the longevity of habitability on Earth.
Unfortunately, they are ignoring these urgent problems.
So what to do now? I suppose those smart stoics who are living above the poverty line, but not in the super rich position will wish to adopt comfortable personal philosophies such as transcendental meditation or a consoling religious fantasy since leaving the planet will be difficult as our nearest star Alpha Centauri is 4.37 light years away!
How long will the wasteful destruction of our beautiful planet continue without producing the results cited above is anybody’s guess, but I guess that I will not be around for the finale!
